I Love Trees

and in spring, my favorite color is green.

Before Rain

Tree Facts:

“In laboratory research, visual exposure to settings with trees has produced significant recovery from stress within five minutes, as indicated by changes in blood pressure and muscle tension.”—Dr. Roger S. Ulrich Texas A&M University

Trees properly placed around buildings can reduce air conditioning needs by 30 percent and can save 20 – 50 percent in energy used for heating.”—USDA Forest Service

“One acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out four tons of oxygen. This is enough to meet the annual needs of 18 people.”—U.S. Department of Agriculture

We have been having so much pounding rain. The iris are taking a beating.  Bringing the iris inside for bouquets makes them last longer.

To avoid a mess, be sure to turn the iris scapes upside down and shake as you gather them to remove some of the copious amount of water they collect.

With the trees come the birds for they provide homes and sustenance.  We only assist with our feeders.

  1. Hi, Donna, Boy, can I relate. I’ve been bringing in roses to escape the rain knowing that if I don’t they will simply emerge in terrible shape. Better to bring them inside and enjoy them. Tomorrow promises sun. Hope it catches you as well!

  2. Your home is very nice and I do love all the trees. I can feel the stress leave when I’m around them. I just thought it was cause I like gardening. I enjoyed the video too.

Your home is surely mighty beautiful. Just totally wrapped in trees-how very very wonderful. Still loving that orange iris.

The setting is more verdant since the photo, Gail. The trees have filled out fully and spectacularly because of all the rain. Hostas are looking great also. I must get the slug bait out before it warms and the slugs start munching. Never a moment to waste in tending the garden, you know.

When the forest turns from gray to the many colors of spring green, it is magic, FT.
