January Jewel


The Eastern Towhee, usually rather elusive, 


has found some tasty morsels and although it is aware of photographer’s presence,



 it is reluctant to leave. We are the beneficiaries of Mr. Wonderful’s Christmas gift/glass.

    Lovely photos! In the Western guide they call this fellow a rufous sided towhee, i wonder if it is the same bird or a related one? Whatever, I’ve had them visit now and then, they are shy as you say. They were most drawn to a very shallow pond (just a shovel scoop) near the bushes…
