Survive the cold, I mean… I know you, like I, have wondered how birds survive the cold winter nights. Well, here is my latest observation. We have a bird house on our covered deck and every evening about 4:00 pm Carolina wrens come to roost for the night. It is the same house they used for a nest earlier in the year. It is lined with the nesting material that keeps out the wind and it is located in an area protected from precipitation. The entrance faces the house away from the effects of weather. I have also observed several bluebirds in a nest built on top of a porch post. They had there heads toward the bottom center of the nest and about all you could see was several tails sticking out around the top rim of the nest.
A large flock of robins came to our garden yesterday.
No matter where I looked all around the house, robins were everywhere.
They were definitely attracted to the water.
It was almost easy to get a photo. These were taken from a window while I was inside cozy and warm. It is going to be comparatively warm today. We can probably have some outside time in the garden. Leaves, lights…..so many things to do…. so little time.:)
